About SmartBear: Our name, SmartBear, has its roots in the surreal John Irving novel Hotel New Hampshire in which a "smart bear" plays an important role. Near the end we are told repeatedly that "a smart bear makes all the difference.” Given the quirky and memorable ring to the name, combined with the fact that SmartBear’s people and software quality tools make all the difference in creating great applications ... the name has stuck.
