 Basically how it works is you pull out your smartphone, take a photo of the receipt and upload it within the software where it will be stored in a folder for safe keeping. The Expensify interface is intuitive and automatically populates the information for you upon upload. The drawback is you only get a few free scans per month, 15 to be exact. If you need to scan anymore than that this app will cost you. Another drawback, it can take upwards of half an hour to scan just one receipt. Is it worth it to me? No. I can simply input the information myself. It would be much easier and more practical for me to make my own spreadsheet. It's definitely not worth the money in my opinion. Save your money for something else.

This is a great service for anyone looking for an easy way to keep their expense reports up to date. Their mobile app even lets you update them from your phone so you can keep your transactions up to date on the go. With Expensify’s Smart Scan feature, I can just take a photo of my receipts with my iPhone and it will automatically pull up the amount I spent and it to me expense report. Expensify also makes it super convenient to organize and look over the reviews I have approved as well as those still waiting for approval. It even lets me know when transactions by my staff need to be reviewed, really helpful! My only complaint is that the Smart Scan sometimes takes a while to process the image after I take it, and I’d like for it to process the receipt faster in time-sensitive situations, but this a minor drawback compared to how great their service is.

Before I found Expensify, I had to use a spreadsheet to keep track of my personal and business expenses. However, with the Expensify app, I have literally no problems tracking all of my expenses. I love the cross-platform support that allows me to work on a report with my iPhone, and then continue editing with my laptop! I believe it is a great tool in progress, and would love to see an integration with hotel and flight reservation tools. Eventhough, I absolutely love it as it is thus far, it could be even better. I have told various friends to use it for their business ventures. The Expensify app seems to have been developed just in time, as I have always had some trouble keeping track of my spending. With the development of this app, it has cut my time involved in editing in half. 10/10 Highly recommended.

Before deciding you should think how big your company is and with how many reimbursable transactions you might be dealing with. Those points are important to take into account as Expensify fits great for smaller businesses that don’t have too much activity in the near future. Because of that reason we will continue to work with Expensify as long as it’s still reasonable. Sad truth is that even though at the moment Expensify suits us perfectly and I would suggest everyone to try it out, at one point every developing company needs to swap to some more sophisticated program.
