One possible quick fix for these kind of difficulties in business organization is a time tracking and expense system called Replicon.
What does Replicon have to offer? First of all, optimization of client billing and upgrading of old-fashioned time & attendance management through number of products. The time tracking applications are definitely the most prominent ones – namely, TimeBill, TimeCost, TimeAttend and TimeOff. According to the information provided by Replicon Inc., the company behind this SaaS, options TimeBill and TimeCost allow users to record time they spend on projects, enter billable and non-billable time (e.g. meetings, proposal writings, e-mail communication with clients), and put side by side the expected revenue and the total cost of the project. TimeAttend grants the possibility to track the time off, adjust the payroll based on the overtime calculations and set up limits for minimum or maximum time submissions in order to prevent potential misuse. It also allows users to record employee time for the specific activity he is supposed to perform. The supervisors are able to subsequently review and improve tasks for each team member on a single screen, analyze number of hours spent on project, as well as overtime hours for each employee.
Employee tracking, project forecasting, and skills assignment and resource are all enabled thanks to WebResources. Another feature, named WebExpense, gives an overview of all the project costs, mostly by keeping records for employees and project expenses in multiple currencies, with automatic sales tax calculations at hand. The ability to establish a vacation and sick time policy has been very helpful for tracking how much vacation time an employee has.
User’s point of view
The sole number of positive reviews and existence of a non-stub Wikipedia article about Replicon speaks for itself. Judging by opinions of those who’ve used Replicon, its first and foremost asset is the plain interface that allows effortless overview of the time intervals for each project. The Percentage complete function makes it easy for users to see how much time they have left in a project or task. With the Project reporting, team leaders also can quickly see this table. The project reporting is fairly robust, with the ability to create reports on the fly and get exactly the information you need when you need it. Also, the opportunity to integrate Replicon with standard programs (e.g. MS Project) is considered great for launch of a new project.
On the other hand, customers were vexed because there is no ability to report on, or even track the changes done to a project, as well as the lack of the official handbook or any kind of reference guide, as a matter of fact – Replicon states there is almost no need for training due to the simplicity of the software. Some reviewers claimed that large amount of users caused the failure of some reporting functions. Obviously, there is room for improvement, but on overall most of the customers are pleased with the service they get from Replicon.
