Database Programs

In everyday language, the terms software and programs are usually used interchangeably. While they are almost synonymous there is a slight difference between the two. Software is a more broader term which identifies programs, data and other related files. These are used to perform tasks in a device that does computing tasks. With this in mind, even a program can be classified as a software. However, program is basically a set of instructions that the machine executes.

For e.g. a software that allows you to record names and addresses in a database has the program and database as part of it. However the database itself is not the program. Here the database is an accessory to the program that will make it useful.  

Talking about database program, it basically is at the centre of business information system. Database program tools help you to create and design the structure of your database, create data entry forms, can sort and update data, can validate the data and check it for inconsistencies, and can also have query and reporting functions.  

Further, the advanced database programs allows you to automate many functions with built-in programming or macro languages.
