PaaS (Platform as a Service)
PaaS (Platform as a Service) is a method of leasing operating systems, storage or other software utilities remotely. PaaS is typically used to virtualize servers and related services for existing applications.
PaaS is one of the three major models of cloud computing along with Software as a Service (SaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). PaaS allows users to manage, run, and develop software applications while avoiding the complications of building and maintaining the infrastructure that usually accompanies the development and initial launch of an application.
The prime advantages of PaaS are that is allows for the reduction of complexity in the high-level programming while simultaneously easing the maintenance processes of the application. Because the app has built-in infrastructure, the general development process becomes more effective. PaaS is also useful in projects that have multiple developers in remote locations.
