Be a top coach with TeamSnap

Be a top coach with TeamSnap

Are you an enthusiastic parent or one of many successful athletes who after some period of competition stayed in the business as a coach? Besides the expected time spent in training and competitions followed by satisfaction of working with people whose progress you can contribute to and observe, one can forget the side effect usually present: the management and communication part. While it may seem as a peace of cake, it turns out to be quite challenging, especially for those with no previous experience. So, why don’t solve it with an app designed exactly for the purpose of organizing teams and groups in general? Let us find out more aboutTeamSnap.

Features description

The very beginning of TeamSnap dates back to 2009, growing to around 9 million users at the moment. This SaaS is quite specific in targeted market, aiming at people who lead sports team or any group in need of day-to-day management. It is designed with the purpose to let the users focus entirely to coaching, training sessions, matches, and reduce the workload connected with communication, scheduling, payments, etc. Both Android and iOS application are supported, making it available virtually anywhere and at any time of day. The basic functions of TeamSnap can be tried out for free, since only the storage space (for files and photos, e.g.) and further customization are excluded from the free version. The pricing varies from 0 to $17.99 monthly and $31.13 per team and per league, respectively. Those are also the two main paths offered: Team, and League and Club.

An example of a TeamSnap homepage

Both can be perceived as online headquarters: central place for the coach when separated from the players, which makes it possible to know their availability, post updates to keep everybody in the loop or just remind of the last championship memories, have all rosters at one place instead of scattered paper notes, follow the completion of tasks he gave, and so on. The tracking option is also included via Statistics tab, which consists of fields characteristic for the sport in question (simply put, there are no goals per player in volleyball, or touchdowns in basketball). Youth of the present is used to spending time on the internet, so TeamSnap presents a modern approach instead of old-fashioned methods. Players can follow the homepage where inspirational quotes and future matches are present, RSVP to events, text the coach when they are injured or ask when is the next practice session. As for the features specialized for league commissioners and administrators, the online registration of entire line-ups is most likely the biggest advantage TeamSnap provides.

User’s point of view

The Web is full of comments that would make the owners of TeamSnap blush or feel victorious. Since the basic version is available for free, most of the customers first gave it a shot, but later on didn’t have doubts if they should buy the Basic, Premium or Ultra edition with additional features. Immediate linking events to the calendar and general connectivity of the updates, intuitive interface for people who are not tech savvy, the way schedule is organized to save time – those are the mentioned options that won the hearts of the users. In the local leagues, it was not uncommon for parents in the past to have trouble finding the venue, but not anymore with the GPS locating included in TeamSnap. In the latest version it is even possible to enter a specific field / ring / court if the game is held at a large complex, which made some football mums and grandpas quite satisfied. Some of the complaints are that it is made for USA residents only, and that rescheduling can lead to misunderstandings. The company’s fast, well-timed changes according to specific team needs is also one of the factors included in the good image TeamSnap seems to maintain. Some sort of “cheerfulness” of the app and the website as well – possibly explainable by comedians in the board – is marked as a small, but nevertheless important trait of TeamSnap. Maybe this review sums up in a best (and also funny) manner the relief TeamSnap brought to coaches: Saved my sanity – I’ve coached youth sports teams for several years and the worst part is the communication and organization. This app and website has simplified both. Wish I had it earlier.
